Masters of Turkish Sufi Music

Sadreddin Özçimi (ney) – Yavuz Akalin (ney) – Necati Celik (oud) – Tristan Driessens (oud) – Levent Yildirim (bendir) – Robbe Kieckens (percussion).

Make way for the greatest masters of the art of improvisation and virtuosity Sadreddin Özçimi and Necati Çelik as they transport you into the majestic universe of Turkish Mevlevi Sufism.

The evening will kick off with the Perde Kaldirma, one of the great musical forms linked to the mystic dance ritual (sema) of religious brotherhoods. An expression that is highly appreciated by the neyzen (masters of the Turkish ney), the Perde Kaldirma creates a climate that is favourable to exaltation and ecstasy. The demands of the numerous micro-modal subtleties of the makam mean it is a form that is exclusively reserved for the initiated.
